This collection of images were originally part of Rover’s Photo Ledger and have been catalogued here in Ledger number order with the assistance of those noted above. Some of the photos were supplied to Club Member Tim Dines in the late 1970’s by Land-Rover. Many have appeared in several books over the years including the Early Years by Tony Hutchings, The Land-Rover 1948 to 1984 by James Taylor & Land-Rover the Formative Years 1947 -1967 by John Smith.
The following examples are typical of Land-Rover’s use of the photos as the basis for evolving drawings in brochures over the years.
Note how the seats and lights have been modified in the drawn image for those of the later model…
… and in this drawn image the front wheels have been straightened for the brochure…
… whereas here the Station Wagon is no longer in front of the station!
The original prints of the images below are held at the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust, Gaydon, and their archives department should be contacted before any images are reproduced in digital or print form.
