Yesterday- and will continue today if time allows..
Started the dismantling needed in order to change oil seal in timing cover.
Will change crankshaft drive shaft as well since wear was the cause of the oil leak. (different version when a capstan winch is installed)
A bit more needed to dismantle with a Capstan winch installed.

Oh no, you spend all that money on a new chassis and they've built it upside down!!!  ;D

Fitted 86" club shop hardtop seal on my 80 with a little fiddeling it fits ok.
As for sliding in the reinforcement plate i sprayed silicone in the seal cavity and clamped it in the workmate.
And bit by bit moving on it slid right in.
Also fitted new seals over the doortops i bought from the Houben family they are a perfect replica of the original.
So no fiddeling needed top Quality as always!
Regards Eddy

First little drive in my Tdi 88".... brakes are terrible and need bedding in and adjust plus an oil leak on oil filter housing!
Insurance now done and might have a drive tomorrow after replacing the gasket and tweaking the brakes!

I replaced my 10 year old Pro Comp dampers with 1ton fronts all round, as recommended by many series 2 club members.
Then as a road test went on a tour of Wiltshire White Horses to test the route for a road run I’m planning for later in the year.
86 miles road and green lanes there is a slight improvement in the ride, but not as much as I’d hoped. Maybe I should go back to to decent multi leaf springs.
1 Thank you.

There were one ton dampers on my 12V 1/2  ton Lightweight  when I bought it from the MoD and they bottomed out on full bump

That is my concern Derek, especially as the pro comps were +2” to allow for the extra travel of the Rocky Mountain parabolic springs, however I did drive some quite deeply rutted and pot holed tracks on the Plain yesterday and they performed ok.
