Just to wrap up that off-topic bit above about EKA codes, the Disco seems to have got used to my thumb on the fob button, and has been behaving itself for the past 3-4 days.  Thanks for all suggestions.

I made a spare wheel cover in readiness for trip to Norway. Since taking photos I have added a pocket to front face.

Graeme,

Best guess would be the battery in the remote is getting weak so signal levels drop and its more prone to interferance.
Other issue with these remotes is the buttons on teh board tend to break away from the underlying track on the circuit board.
Replacements buttons are available on ebay etc and can be fitted with good eyesight and surface mount soldering equipment.
These days I just get my kids to do them as my eyesight isn't quite good enough.
Spare keys can be programmed to the vehicle using hawkeye or similar diagnostic tool.

Actually, not today, but yesterday;
My 14 year old dog and I "Inspected" one of my neigbours beautiful made "hesje", which is a Norwegian name for a kind of hayrack.
This type is/was apparently mostly used in Scandinavia.
When I was a kid/teenager I particpated in this work at the local farms.
Nowadays rare to see, apart from on small farms in very hilly terrain where they are still used.

Wooden poles with a special soft thin steel wire between them.

Could not resist to drop by and  have a look at this one as I belive it was only put up in order to show how it was done in the "old days".

Need more Land Rovers there.

Hi Ivor
Yes more land rovers! I did get 6 last weekend but I suspect fuel of course is the biggest issue for folks.
Maybe I should say we had 6 1/2 land rovers  ;D

I have no before and after sound measurement but thre is a definite improvement.  I suppose it depends on how noisy your machine is to start with but my "guide" is that I can now here the Google directions from my phone!!
2 Thanks.

I didn't know about that one, Ivor — I might have considered it.

Changed engine oil and filter, oil front and rear diff. Need also to check oil level in all the other places.
With overdrive and Aeropart winch, how many places all together needs to be checked?....9!
Unless I missed something?

Well, this thread title is 'Land Rover' and not specifically 'Series 1', so this is 'ORNery Olive' doing duty as a winch anchor after the hay-turning machine clipped the gatepost this morning, and dislodged it.

(To maintain Series 1 content, 'Fido' is safely in the building behind.)

We tested the series today in heavy clay soil on a slope with rain. It is simply wonderful.

I went back to Woodhall Spa 40's event for second day,  this time managed to find a tree to park under, and as a result was in daylong shade.... This made the event far more relaxed and enjoyable than the Saturday Gas mark 5 day.

less folks walking around but still plenty of interest.... and no bagpipe player today either so a double win....

1 Thank you.
