Fundraising for the Army Benevolent Fund walking 100km over 3 days across the Normandy D Day Beaches.

I'm taking part in an event for ABF The Soldiers' Charity, raising funds for soldiers, veterans and their families. I've joined their Fundraising Army - I started at Private and have been challenged to see how far I can rise! Please support if you can.

https://events.soldierscharity.org/s/14597/21619/e

This weekend ....but amazing to think this was exactly 8 years ago.

Many members in Scotland met up at House of Bruar (on A9) , and then drove across to Glen Lyon. Climbed over the old hydro road back down to Loch Tay . One of the best days out we had together.

Noting at all :embarrassed:

But, as I was not allowed to have the center front seat, when the 86" was registered, I started again on my design stage of a mid console.
All measurements and photos taken to help now drafting on the computer. I think I will incorporate a locked partition and also something that will function as armrest.
Ambitions are only to have something ready for spring ...or before, as I might well use the 86" this winter as long as the roads are dry.

I have already searched up all good ideas on this forum!

Did they include using some of that wasted space below the seatbox centre panel?

Yes, I have even looked up commercial available products that use this space (Defender type). There is slightly less room in my 86" due to the handbrake shaft (LHD) and overdrive, so I will probably no go that route.

Thanks.

Went to the season closer at Klassikstadt in Frankfurt today. It was mobbed. The '53 80" was a real crowd-pleaser parked right next to a bug-eyed Sprite and across from a TR2 https://www.klassikstadt.de/ .

I retired (early!) in May this year, so we’re down to one ‘normal’ car, and the s1is now my daily driver.
Costco runs, dog walking, etc. the S1 now gets used every week, which is actually better for it, regular use is much better than it being laid up and used occasionally.
4 Thanks.

Hi,
Now nearing the end of a rebuild of my 1951 vehicle, I carried on the fine old tradition of taking out parts that I had recently put together in order to fit a component that I had expected would slip in without a problem! The awkward part was the rigid fuel pipe connecting the fuel tank and the glass filter bowl. I had assumed the pipe could be installed almost last by simply removing the floor and slipping it into place. No way, it proved impossible to swivel and feed it into position, so out came the fuel tank. Oh - yes I then had to take out the seat box as well, which meant removing the handbrake assembly. All good fun and just another example of how easy it is to forget something when carrying out a rebuild!

Cheers :embarrassed:

Went for a much-needed run out to drive a local green lane and check the condition whilst at it. At the lower end there is a long stretch of traditional stone 'pitching' on the steepest section. This packed stone on edge would have provided grip for horses and gives a durable surface. One particular section is becoming de-stabilised and I will see if the Council (the route is an unsurfaced unclassified highway) would be prepared to work with volunteers to fix this before damage extends greatly.

Further up, dug out several drainage run-off channels which were all solid with stones and grit leading to water flowing down the track and starting to cause erosion of the surface. More could have been done with some of them but the packed debris took some freeing up with a mattock and time was limited. The further reaches of the run-offs were choked with moorland grass but this dug out relatively easily to allow the water to flow away.

A good excuse to drive the route again in a month or two to see how the drainage is holding up. Some lingering snow in pockets on the Northern fells.
2 Thanks.

I said I would get it finished for Christmas, and at 1420 GMT I at last reversed out of the workshop, having fitted a re-con brake master cylinder, added a hydraulic brake light switch, tweaked the gear selector linkage and re-fitted the floor. Doors back on, and ready to go up to my son's for Xmas Pud tomorrow, and a Boxing Day hike in the North York Moors. Dead proud of myself!

Mind you... I'd have felt even more proud if I'd been able to meet the original deadlines of end of September/October/November!!
1 Thank you.
