Some interesting ideas going on there. Longer front springs and I assume something rather bigger than stock under the hood

springs from silverado trucks
52" front eye to eye
64" rear eye to eye

isuzu 3.9 diesel engine from an '89 npr truck is currently under consideration...

chassis widened 7" from bulkhead back to tug exhaust nicely under the chassis and a custom 30 gal. rear fuel tank...

Welded up a rusted hole in the rear axle case between the spring and the brake back plate.

Interesting comparison with a distant relative. Have to say the D2 is a world apart, the TD5 is a nice engine . Wonder if anyone has done a series one transplant its the last proper Rover diesel.

Had a trip out to see Stuart Arthur's 1956 Willerby monocoque GRP caravan. Look at those swoopy lines. Ultra cool i want one ( fat chance only 6 left)

Installed the transmission back into the restored chassis.
All went remarkably smooth. No broken parts, no skin or bone damage.

Making some decent progress now.

I took advantage of the fine weather and painted my tub, front panel and dash in the garden.
One day I might get the chance to drive the bloody thing?
You could drive at least one, maybe more than one? but didn’t bother?

Currently very little, I am waiting to hear from the galvanizers when they are coming to pick up the 86"

and I don't want to start thinking about painting the bulkhead until the chassis is somewhere near ready to take it.

Both have been repaired using as much of the original as possible, I could have put on new outriggers rather than cutting and splicing, same with the bulkhead, new footwells would have been easier than cutting and splicing to keep as much of the original that I could.....

Wow looks good.
Mines getting there but has been a major project. Not one thing has been ok. I’ve had to fix every conceivable part of it. And mostly working outdoors as my single garage is too restrictive for anything more than storage of shrapnel.

I am probably luckier than most but I stuck in a job I could not stand for 20 years to get it.....Job nearly drove me to a mental breakdown and or / suicide... (honestly!) but it is all mine now.....

Now all I have to do now I am retired is live long enough to get some use and fun out of it!

Crossed One of the 3 Bailey bridges still in use. They were layed in 1944 to permit crossing of the Leopold Canal for the troops into the Breskens pocket.
