Wished it a Happy 65th Birthday, and promised it that I will fix its front floor back down ASAP, following a clutch change.

Visited Adegem WW2 war memorial.
One of the heaviest battles of WW2 took place here.
Battle at the Leopold canal. Part of the battle of the Breskens pocket.

Took the otter plate off the rear of cylinder head to renew the gasket which was a bit sad...(  :undecided:  at least it was seen to be weeping. :( )  Perhaps the L-R is upset because it has been sat at home for so long, missing the normal spring time run in company.  I fitted some new gasket  made from weetabix packet card  sandwiched  with a good smear of gasket sealant..(That should make everyone smile .)  No weeping now ... :tic:

Not "today" but yesterday took part in a classic car rally. 100 miles around the lanes of Suffolk, Cambs, Beds and Herts starting and finishing at IWM Duxford.  It was a shake-down in preparation for the Comeback Rally and only revealed a wheel bearing needing adjustment.

Went out for a shakedown run after road tax sorted and  ......broke down #### no spark and coil very hot. Towed back by mates Merc Sprinter (greatly amused ) luckily near home
Bit of fettling to do may go electronic having read the various threads
Suppose its a bit much to expect reliability after standing 17 years on the plus side oil pressure and compression good and no nasty smoke
Was going to swap out this engine (2 1/4 petrol ) as it had siezed up but will stick with it for  now worth a bit of TLC. It used to be very reliable

I fitted electronic ignition to mine and so far it's the only thing that has let me down!! I'm back on points again.

I fitted three brass gauze filters on the pick up pipes in the petrol tanks. Sent to me by Chris Farman, must say they are excellent. Nice to receive parts from the person who actually makes the parts.

A club member dropped off his Banana  pipe with me yesterday, I have fitted his pipe onto a engine and made him some heater pipes.

Ed, This is a good idea, the return pipe gets bent to fit the angle and position of return connection, which do differ, the banana pipe then fits in the cardboard tube with the heater pipes for posting. Still weighs less than 2 kilos.

Pulled the gearbox out to flick the squealing clutch thrust bearing. Lovely way to spend a sunny spring day. Not.
