inadvertently reached 100km/h downhill with assistance of a slight breeze in the right direction...speedlimit was 90km/h.
But not to worry, soon slowed down on the next uphill.
In my 86" with canvas off.

Of course 3 Tesla car just had to pass me anyway when I was doing 100 ... good lord those Tesla cars on  low profile fat tyres are noisy!

Student let shifting time again, hot and sticky work in Heaton, Newcastle
Not the natural habitat for a 107, tight back streets and multi point turns but does the job

Hot and sticky work in Heaton, Newcastle

[To understand this, you have to say it out loud in a Geordie accent.  If you can't hear a Geordie accent in your head, it'll be nonsense!}

Wor Jackie rings the RAC — "Can ye come to me Land-Rover?  It won't go.  It's over heat'n in Cuthbert Street."  90 minutes go by with no sign of the RAC man, so he rings again.  "Whear's he gan to?"  "He can't find you... apparently there is no Cuthbert Street in Heaton."  "Ah'm not in Heaton, ah'm in Byker.  It's me Land-Rover that ower-heatn!"

Went to Montgomery Show in Powys. Great day but a tad warm. Went to Bunners first thing. My favourite ironmongers. Lovely people.

I did, in my poor attempt at geordie (the most beautiful of all our regional accents) and it made me laugh, the wife too, but maybe she was being kind, it happens occasionally.

Drove about 50km distance total, went well for its first real run in 10 or 12 years

Today we attended the first annual Fulneck Classic Car Show, which was conveniently 5 mins from home. We didn’t win the ‘best in show’ prize, that went to a 1935 Morris Minor which had been a lockdown restoration and was amazing.
We were parked next to a 1953 Riley, the owner said he’d been married 95 times, but then clarified that he’d used the car as a wedding car 95 times!

Prize giving was by the Lord Mayor of Leeds!

We were the only Land Rover in attendance, and it was an eclectic range of vehicles from a c Reg cavalier Sri to 1930s Morris minor, with everything in between.

Next year they’re promising a bigger event.

Fulneck is a Moravian settlement near Leeds, and has a private school with the longest Edwardian terrace in the land. Architect Benjamin Latrobe was born in Fulneck , and went on the design the capitol building in Washington and the White House, and Len Hutton (cricket) was also born here.

Well after over 12 months with Jon Holmes I picked up my Landie from the ferry port. Quite a bit of work underneath, but the instruction was to leave the patina as much as possible.
Looking forward to getting some miles done over the next few months.
2 Thanks.

My 86 visited a petrol station for the first time in nearly 40 years - poor old girl got a severe shock as there wasn’t a 2 star pump in sight and when I explained to her that the price was per litre I thought she’d pop a radiator hose! 🤪

The new front axle seal seems to have stemmed the loss of oil that was apparent on my recent hop around the block and I was pleased to see plenty of hot water in the radiator after a run around the lanes near my house.

Brakes?  Well they worked and pulled up straight but I’m not sure whether they need a lot more bedding in or 40 years of servo assisted disc brakes has made me forget to push appropriately hard!

Steering was effective but heavy - again, may be familiarity with modern power assisted rack and pinion cars but I think it should probably self-centre better but I haven’t checked the tracking yet.

Inspected the hay to gauge drying. Checked upper field. Working to get back native flowers and grasses with hopes to lure quail back in. Made sure forest.road was clear in case of fire. Move wagon out of bottom after fence work was done.
2 Thanks.
