Good Afternoon
- Oct 18, 2021 - 13:51
Hi,

Joined last week and shook hands on a Series 1 Barn (Field) Find this morning

A 1950 model year in need of a fair bit of TLC but still standing and restorable I think.

Car will be with me in a few weeks and I will post some pics shortly!

Looking forward to getting started, it joins a 109" Series IIA hardtop in the garage.

Chris

Welcome to the world of Series Ones - should keep you busy for a while!

Is it on the DVLA database?  If not, itís imperative that you donít start stripping it before contacting Mick Burn (milkman) to discuss the details of getting it registered as DVLA have become extremely awkward of late and without it being complete as found may refuse to reissue the old number or even register it as an historic vehicle.

It has a V5 with a registration number so I am guessing it is OK. although not been on the road for probably 30 years minimum I would say.  Original Engine and gearbox are  missing and it has a Series 3 ish rear crossmember although it has narrow front springs and the right front axle.

It comes with a 2.25 litre petrol and matching gearbox both are free but never been fitted to the car as far as I know.

Will wait until I get it home and then decide what to do, I would prefer to find the right engine, gearbox and rear axle but guessing they are hard to find.  Chassis and bulkhead need a lot of work.

Thanks for the heads up!

Chris

As long as you get the keeper details transferred to you things should be simple enough. Youíll be free to look around for a suitable engine etc. then, even if you use something else in the meantime.
