New Member plus Scruff!

Greetings from Warwickshire. Just joined the club together with "Scruff", my September 1949 80inch. Built at Solihull and exported to Sydney in '49 it spent most of its life on a farm 2 hours north of the city. I purchased it after a few Christmas beers 3 years ago, and then had it Patina restored by Jon Holmes on the South Coast. I have had it three months and loving every mile; it's so much fun. Still discovering the history of it, having seen a screwed on panel on the wing. We managed to unscrew the bolts, and there on the other side was a perfectly etched sign for the original company which owned it. Loving the journey and possibly will meet some of you on here in due course.


Scruff, incidentally, joins my Jan 2016 Heritage 90 which is the fourth last (Classic) Defender to be built. Daily driver is an L663.

Looking really good and keeping the original paint finish gives it loads of character. Can’t beat an 80” with the roof off and windscreen flat on the bonnet super cool. Bet it pulls nicely with the Holden engine too

Hello from Renfrewshire Scotland.


That's a Paisley registered vehicle.  Would be interested to know its early history!


This club is invaluable to us all - the knowledge is mind boggling!

Given that it was originally an Australia export, isn't it more likely that it's an age related number?  I understand that most, if not all of them, are allocated from unused Scottish registration blocks.
