Land Rovers in films

Hi Guys ,

Following from a piece in LRO about Land Rovers in films can anyone remember a film
starring John Mills as a lusty drunken farmer trying to have his wicked way with a blonde
village girl , he was always belting about in a series one land rover with a little old trailer
bouncing along behind .

I've had a look round 'tinternet but can't seem to find anything about it , i've only seen
it  once on the telly quite a few years ago now .

Hi, Sorry to hijack the thread but ive just watched a 1957 film called Quatermass 2 enemy from space and there were a few series 1's in there as well as some willy's jeeps used by the spacemen, amusing viewing from an old classic.
I have the full length film on my pc but could only find this link to u tube about the film which only has a brief shot of the series 1 at 1.08.

Thanks for that. It never gets old for me. I love it! My daughters groan a bit when I suggest it but I'm big, they're small, I'm right, they're wrong  ;D

A resurrection of a vary old thread...

Just seen Quatermass 2 (it was on terrestrial digital TV not long ago) and this is an interesting vehicle. There are some stills on IMCDb of it, and one of the commenters on there, I believe correctly, identifies it as a stretched 80" chassis with the back end of a Standard Vanguard pick-up grafted on. The front, as far as the rear of the doors, is definitely 80", the wheelbase is definitely extended, and the back end lines, including the rather distinctive tailgate, match a Vanguard. It's a shame that the still are so dark and grainy (but the film isn't much better). The film is dated, to put it kindly, but does have some interesting vehicles.

An interesting vehicle. I wonder how common this sort of thing was then. The film was made in 1957 so the 80" cannot have been very old.

Is anyone aware of anything similar?

Also included modified ex WWII Jeep and a Wolseley "Mudlark", the Austin Champ prototype manufactured in 1948.

The Jeep is ex military and the Wolseley "Mudlarks" were mostly struck off census 1954/57. Therefore, the Land Rover with trafficators is probably ex military also.

There is a Sunday night Freeview classic film series and I'm sure Quatermass and the pit is one.
