CC bemused on arrival,  they dont seem to like older vehicles.

The boating section of the CC are a decent bunch met a few of those over a number of years at the West Wales get together though cannot vouch for the others :tiphat:

For the 10th year my 80 inch has pulled one of the collection floats in Taunton Carnival. Held on 19th October with a 7pm start this is one of a number of illuminated carnivals held in Somerset.

Yes maybe would have been best to call a recovery lorry but it was only 20 miles, plus just paid £35 to get back home by taxi !!
2 Thanks.

Not a series photo per se, but commiserating with daleradford above.   Our "Queen of the Fleet" '13 LR4 has exhibited lots of electrical jinkiness over the past year or so (back windows wouldn't go down, climate control would conk out, entertainment system would conk out, the whole dashboard would light up like a Christmas tree, etc. etc.).  We'd replaced a central locking entry module back in March 2017, and had chalked our recent woes up to normal British car electrical glitches.  However, it got to the point where we became concerned about one of the kids being caught out on the Autobahn.  So we sent it out to the friendly Land Rover mechanic https://www.miwawe.de/ who's helped up so much with the '53 80" I drive to debug the problem.  The LR4 has been parked outside for eight years, and we knew that the trees surrounding our driveway could clog up the sunroof drainage, but hadn't fully appreciated the extent of the problem.  Turns out that not only was it shipping in water from the sunroof, but the drainage tube on the air conditioner was also clogged, and when he ripped up all the carpeting there was >10 liters of water sloshing around the floor pan completely submerging the multiple electronic modules mounted down there.  Over the past three weeks, he's debugged what needs to be replaced and what doesn't, but we've decided to have it all repaired ...  2021 vacation budget blown, but cheaper than a new one.  Sigh.

Our most reliable Land Rover of the five we drive might well be the '53 80" (which definitely needs a bath).
1 Thank you.

P.S. With apologies to Nelson Algren, "Never play cards with a man called "Doc", never eat at a place called "Mom's", and never buy a car with a sunroof."  https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Walk_on_the_Wild_Side .  The newish '18 Discovery Sport doesn't have one, and I couldn't be happier.

A couple of my 80" working hard from quite a while ago. Neither of these was a fast journey! I am not sure of the all-up weight but an E27N is not light, and I am pretty sure it was approaching 3.1/2 tons. I often used to tow this kind of weight with the 80" and it coped extremely well, although it was necessary to be a master at gear changes (just like the old days)!

LMW182 was at that time owned by a friend of mine, anyone know where it is now?

Ours still doing a good days work just as she was meant for. 5 ton tipper is about the limit I would say and she’s still farming almost on the same ground where she was new! Not much changes round here.

That's a lovely working Land Rover. Just need a pto hydraulic pump so you operate the tipping ram :)

Very glad to see that it's gone to a good home.   I hope you'll use and enjoy it.

Well I like to hope they’re good!! The originals on the back, but they were refurbished about 10 years ago. I imagine they’re often telling me to ‘FO’ when they see me reversing up to that trailer

Thanks Jon! Yes that would be lovely, I do have the PTO and other bolt on bits that she used in her early days on the mill and the saw bench but nothing to operate hydraulics. But that would be an interesting piece of equipment to track down as a family we have been using this Land Rover on various owned farms here in Devon since 1961 so she won’t be retiring just yet!
