Peter that is my option if I can’t find one but i would prefer to get a proper one if possible.

I found it strange that the female nuts are UNF thread and BSF spanner size and the male.fittings are UNF thread and AF spanner size.

Try a 8mm flare  (in theory only 2 thou. slacker)     modern tube nuts will use 8mm stock.

5/16 BSF spanner is 13.34mm  surely?

5/16" AF would be 7.9375mm but that isn't the spanner Richard requires.

8mm  tube nut would have a tiny pipe running through it!

I am almost certain I use a 8mm flare when changing thermocouple on boiler gas valve.
