Hello. Upon cleaning 65 years of grime of my 1955 107.i came across this number sprayed on the engine block behind the oil filter. I am hoping someone might know why it's there?Cheers Phil.

It's a casting pattern number used at the foundry. Most engines were painted with these identifiers when new -  often a question asked on the forum.
