Looks like AVM freewheel hubs on rear axle too.. -  a  surprising thing to see . Do you think this is a way to fit series 2 shafts to an early axle case ?

I would say that the rear diff (& maybe the front too) has been locked (welded up) to aid  off road ability. The FWhubs will then be unlocked when towing with the 'A' frame on the road. The width of the axles look to be S2s.
