1948 - 23
Description: Found dismantled in Matlock Derbyshire in the 1980s, soon after Ivor Ramsden made annual visits to try and liberator the remains from the owner, his writings inspired a school boy to take up the gauntlet, with help from Peter Galilee, Tom Pickford started visiting in 1998, it took 5 year to secure the remains from Matlock. Over the next 10 years I have worked to secure many of the correct parts to rebuild the vehicle in an authentic way. Now a driving chassis and displaying it original GWD477 registration number, R23 is well on its way to being back on the road. In 1948 it was used with 3 other to go to world gliding champions in Switzerland, last year James Taylor also found some picture of R23 in Sweden. It will be finished off in the way it was used as a demonstrator back in 1948.

Hi Tom,

Great to see it. A great job, which you have done to it, and nice to see it back on the road. It really drives perfect!
